Robbie Davison from Can Cook describes himself as a politically driven food lovin activist who is at heart dedicated to making sure working class people get a fair deal.
Can Cook is a registered charity; they trade commercially, providing a fresh food catering service for care and education settings. They invest their profits into creating Real Living Wage jobs for local people, and providing fresh, chilled meals, free of charge to families in food poverty. They chose to structure themselves in this way in response to the growing number of people going hungry in the UK, and the lack of fresh food available to them.
There are some great food projects in Hastings like Bags of Taste and the Pantry. Can Cook could provide a model for scaling up these projects, using the fresh food catering service as a model that can then fund the donations of fresh food to people in crisis.
